Is Zoom’s weird audio processing giving you grief?
Want to be able to play music together remotely without an irritating lag?
Or maybe you have an idea for using tech in an online performance - but aren’t quite sure how it can be realised?
Maybe we can help!
Over the summer of 2020 we have been helping artists and musicians troubleshoot their technical set-up when collaborating and performing in real time online. We've learned a few tricks along the way and now we are keen to offer our pro bono expertise to artists more widely.
We've advised on the approach to take for a livestreamed song cycle "On Hope". We've worked with the Sacconi Quartet to help them get set up to rehearse music remotely using the realtime audio solution Soundjack. And we've helped out with numerous other small issues including: how to set up Zoom for better audio; how to do performance via telephone; and how to do a livestreamed improvised animation show.
If you have a technical query about your online performance - or would simply like to talk through your ideas - email us at
helpdesk@potentialdifference.org.uk
How long will we take to get back to you? For simple queries, we will aim to get back to you within a few days. For anything more involved, please allow 1-2 weeks for us to respond.
What can you help with? We have a range of experience in networking, video and audio streaming, web development, app development, and a number of different tools and platforms for realtime communication. We are not specialists in any one area but we are happy to offer suggestions on any area of performing or collaborating online. If we don't have the answers, we will do our best to signpost you to where you might find them.
