Is Zoom’s weird audio processing giving you grief?
Want to be able to play music together remotely without an irritating lag?
Or maybe you have an idea for using tech in an online performance - but aren’t quite sure how it can be realised?
Maybe we can help!
During the crazy times of the pandemic, we found ourselves in lots of conversations with artists about how to use technology for collaborating and performing online. In response to that, we set up the PD Helpdesk - a free service funded by Arts Council England to share advice and expertise with artists grapling with technology.
With the PD Helpdesk we advised on the approach to take for a livestreamed song cycle "On Hope". We worked with the Sacconi Quartet to help them get set up to rehearse music remotely using the realtime audio solution Soundjack. And we helped out with numerous other small issues including: how to set up Zoom for better audio; how to do performance via telephone; and how to do a livestreamed improvised animation show.
In February 2021, we ran a "Toolbox Talk" for Go-Live Theatre's Youth Arts Leadership Conference offering case studies, tips and troubleshooting on working with technology for 80 young artists.
"a really useful and practical webinar that inspired me with so many possibilities of performance making that can happen now and really embracing technology!"

The PD Helpdesk isn't currently running but we're always open to having a chat if you're struggling with something. Get in touch.
